Miguel Gutiérrez Gaitán (Publications)
MIGUEL GUTIÉRREZ GAITÁN obtained his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal, in February 2023. Afterward, he served at the Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Andrés Bello, Chile, as an assistant professor, while collaborating with CISTER/ISEP as an associate researcher. In March 2024, he joined the Electrical Engineering Department of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, in Santiago, as an assistant professor.
His research covers different topics on real-time wireless networked systems and IoT, including channel modeling, sensing, and network design, applied to industrial, vehicular, and maritime domains. In these topics, he has co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications over the past five years, in relevant journals and conferences such as IEEE Sensors Journal, ACM TECS, IEEE VTC, IEEE WF-IoT, and IEEE GLOBECOM.
Among other recognitions, his research has received funding from FCT-Portugal (2020-2023) and ANID-Chile (Fondecyt Iniciación 2024-2026), as well as awards such as the "Best Paper Award" at the RAGE Workshop at DAC 2022, in San Francisco, USA, and the "Best Work-in-Progress Paper Award" at IEEE WFCS 2021 in Linz, Austria.
Miguel is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Chile Chapter for the 2023-2024 term, member of the IEEE ComSoc Latin America (Region 9) Board for the 2024-2025 period, and member-at-large of the IEEE ComSoc Young Professional standing committee for 2024-2025.
