The Paper entitled "Towards a Cooperative Robotic Platooning Testbed", presented by CISTER PhD Student Ênio Filho, at the 20th IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions (ICARSC 2020) has earned the “Highly Commended Paper Award”.
The 20th IEEE International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions (IEEE ICARSC2020) is an international scientific meeting in the field of Mobile Robotics traditionally co-sponsored by IEEE and IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), through its Portuguese Chapter. Its scope encompasses but is not limited to, the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Education. This year, given the changes brought about by COVID 19, the congress was held online.
The paper authored by Ênio Filho, Nuno Guedes, Miguel Mestre, Bruno Vieira, Ricardo Severino, Anis Koubâa and Eduardo Tovar, presents the development of a 1/10 scale Cooperative Platooning Robotic Testbed, which reduces the test costs and partially tests real platforms and components and different control mechanisms. Real ITS-G5 On-Board Units (OBU) was integrated into the vehicles for communications support, and a cooperative control algorithm that solely relies on communications was successfully implemented.
